READERS: TATTOO BARBIE

We talk with Gemma AKA Tattoo Barbie who is part of the UK based gorgeous group of girls called the Ink Dolls, with a DJ, fire breathing and dance, they always put on a show that cannot be forgotten!

her tattoos reflect her personality as Ishe see them as being creative & they tell a story with memories.

What got you into tattoos?

Having my daughter left my body far from perfect but I wouldn't change it for the world because she is the most perfect little girl but having tattoos gave me my confidence back and made me feel comfortable in my skin again. The more i had, the more confident I felt and became.

What was the last tattoo that you got done?

My last tattoo was my throat one. I had this because 2 years ago I had a cancer scare...the specialist thought I had thyroid cancer so they removed half of my thyroid. The thyroid gland is the shape of a butterfly so I had a butterfly tattoo, half of the tattoo is perfect but the other half is broken and damaged to represent the half of my missing thyroid. This was an emotional tattoo for me to get and I am so glad I got it.

What are you going to get done next?

I'm working on my second sleeve design at the moment, this is going to be a Native American theme. I'm so excited about starting it.

What shop and artists do you get your ink from?

I've built up my collection of art work over the last three years, Having had an artist in Nottingham, Essex and recently Second Skin in Cambridge, which is now my regular studio.

What do you think of paperchasers ink magazine?

I think it's such a good publication and I've enjoyed the first two issues, can't wait to read more of them.
